Diego Meeroff’s Day Off

October 30th 2008

Okay, it was three days off, and I didn’t have my best friend jack his dad’s Jag so we can be marshall of a mid-day parade and catch a Cubs game.

Upper Respiratory Infections can be brutal, but I still look good. See how that green shirt really brings out my eyes. But nothing can keep me away. I had our designers calling me at all times of the day asking me how to use iDVD, make CD labels and best of all, locate a client’s logo on our server. I’m not sure why we are paying these people.

Anyhoweversoon, I’m not the only one at The Collec+ive feeling the blow. I’m actually number 4 thus far. So we all know what that means! Look out other Collec+ive members! The sickness is coming around.

City of God!! Indie film

October 23rd 2008

My designer is working on piece for Bleu Magazine. And it screams City of God to the Collec+ive team here.
So I thought, well that is a must-see film.

Come to find out, he had never seen the film. For his sake and that of others who have been deprived, I implore you all to see this film. Its been out for years, but its fantastic.

Indie film “Bella”

October 23rd 2008

For all of the independent film lovers out there:

“BELLA” has a je ne sais quoi about it. Be advised it’s a bit of a tear jerker for you criers out there ;);
lowly publicized yet an amazingly inspiring and powerful obscure film. It’s a real appreciation for visual storytelling, and escaping onto the road of someone else’s journey

Soccer players, New Yorkers, Latinos, amateur chefs, yeah, that’s pretty much half of The Collec+ive right there.

I think the nostalgia alone will be enough to have all my Collec+ive mates come to the house to see it!!

Better For Our Times

October 21st 2008

CNN’S Fareed Zakaria said something the other day that made perfect sense to me.

“We have two good candidates,” he offered, “but one is distinctly better for our times. John McCain represents the best of America’s past, but Barack Obama is our hope for the future.”

That is the logic upon which good decision are made. I wish for our country to heal its wounds and the scarred face we have projected onto the world. I truly believe Obama is the man to lead us toward that goal.

No more fighting and anger and war. It’s time for people to be able to talk without preconditions; for diplomacy; for nations to join as allies toward healthy, common goals.

Please vote Obama. Our future depends upon it.

The Secret

October 21st 2008

Take a good look. This right here is the secret to success in the hospitality industry. Last week, in a meeting with one of our clients, we were the lucky recipients of the golden ticket. It truly blew us away. But we knew what was coming. Before our client even opened his mouth or brought dry-erase marker to Soffer Collec+ive branded notepad, we knew that the secret was going to be simple. They almost always are.

In school we are taught to follow the K.I.S.S. formula (for those of you that don’t this formula, just keep thinking that we wear face makeup, spit out fake blood and rock high-heels while we play guitar in Business School). But that’s the way secrets to success are. In the movie “Baby Mama,” Steve Martin’s character, a successful yet quirky businessman, tells his secret to Amy Poehler, “Have a really big ____.”

We’ll let you fill in the blank there. If you want we can play hangman with it too.

The Visitor. A Great Indie film.

October 17th 2008

“The Visitor” is a film I haven’t yet seen.

However, just from seeing the trailer, I’m in.

The movie has gotten great reviews but little press. The struggling American dream movie hits close to home. After all, I moved to the States from overseas. I can relate.

The movie is flowered with wonderfully inspiring moments. Sizzling drums lift your spirits while educating you to the struggles of immigration in  America. A must see I think!!

The Wall

October 16th 2008

The Soffer Collec+ive Wall is a visual history of beloved teammates past and present, client partners and dogs we can’t / won’t live without.

It’s the first thing you see when you walk into our Branding + Design + Strategy space and a lasting reminder of how much of a family we really are.

The Wall connotes that Our Business Is Personal.  Our mantra.

And isn’t that what good business is all about?  It’s always about relationships. Now more than ever.

We’re not that big bloated overpriced over-the-top agency that hides everyone and everything from clients except the account people.

We’re the Naked Agency. As in completely transparent. Open. Nothing to hide. Honest to a fault (ok I can get crabby at times). You want to talk to a designer or our traffic manager? Simply click their photo on our site, or make a call.

We’re a small personal company with huge talent. We deliver 1000% no matter the client, no matter the budget.

Give us a try. We want you on The Wall too. Today’s troubled times make this world all about family. Become part of ours.
